Outreach
Food Pantry
We maintain a small food pantry here at our church.
These items are available to local folks who are in need. We are always looking for donations of items like canned meats, non-perishable items, and non-perishable boxed milk. Donations can be dropped off before Sunday services or during office hours (Tues. & Thurs. 9:00 - 12:00)
Checks to support this ministry can be made payable to the Oakham Congregational Church with a note "Pastor's Discretionary Fund" in the memo section.
We also make donations to the Barre Food Pantry located at the Barre Congregational Church and the Rutland Food Pantry located at St. Patrick’s Church.
Dismas Family Farm Dinners
On the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 5:30 pm, the church prepares a dinner for the Dismas Family Farm located on Lincoln Rd. The Dismas Family Farm provides housing and services to homeless former prisoners on a 12-bed, working farm in Oakham, Massachusetts, where residents learn critical vocational skills to reintegrate positively and meaningfully with society. If you would like to help with a meal, please contact the church at 508-882-5537.
Knitting Group
The Oakham Knitting Group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am at the church and the 4th Thursday of each month at the Fobes Library at 6:00 pm. We make prayer shawls, afghans and other items to provide comfort to anyone in need. All are welcome to join us!
The Opportunity Fund
The Opportunity Fund’s purpose is to provide financial assistance to individuals in the town of Oakham or within the Oakham Congregational Church community for spiritual, personal or vocational advancement. The Opportunity Fund is managed by the Outreach Board of the Oakham Congregational Church, which approves requests for funding as they are received.
The fund application form is available at the church or by clicking on the button below. The application should be completed and sent to:

G.A.B.B. Memorial Golf Tournament
The GABB Tournament was originally started in 1995 as the Bob Tyck Memorial Golf Tournament. In its early years it helped a family in need, but over the years became a tournament to benefit local charities. After a pandemic pause, the tournament is back again as a fundraiser, now also in honor of Gretchen Nahkala, Art Gray, and Bob Lajoie, who were always present and instrumental to the great success of the original Bob Tyck Tournament. Through the years, this golf tournament has generated thousands of dollars, and as necessity for direct support to the Tyck family has lessened, the funds may now be dispersed into the community when a situation is made known to us. It also provides support to the following:
The Oakham Opportunity Fund provides grants for the education of individuals in need of assistance.
Camp Putnam: located in New Braintree provides a wonderful camp experience for needy Central Massachusetts children. See www.campputnam.org.
The Church Outreach Program benefits people in need of food, clothing, and shelter.
Barre and Rutland Food Banks: Local food banks which serve the area.
Quabbin Pro Musica: Organization that promotes QRHS Music students and programs.
Dismas Family Farm: provides housing and services to homeless former prisoners on a 12-bed, working farm in Oakham, Massachusetts.
To register, print the form, fill out and mail, along with your check made out to Oakham Congregational Church. See you on the course!
